Last week at CES, Engadget got a chance to sit down with the man responsible for webOS (as well as the Sidekick and Helio UIs), who happens to now be the Android Director for User Experience, Matias Duarte. Matias gives a few points on the direction of Android OS, open source, Android’s future in mobile markets and development differences within Honeycomb from previous versions of Android. he points out that Honeycomb is not just for tablets, and that its the future of Android for any mobile form factor. Also, Honeycomb has been optimized from a development standpoint, to improve multi-tasking efficiency for the users.
Developments like these are crucial to the success of mobile technology as well as the adoption and innovation of Android OS. That is the main reason it will stay open source going forward, Matias also pointed out during the conversation.
