RBC Capital Markets GM Mike Abramsky mentioned to investors this morning that the BlackBerry PlayBook could sell over 4 million units this year alone, and another 2 million next Q1 2012, due to research conducted right after the CES 2011 show in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. 1100 consumers were questioned whether they would buy a PlayBook, and 6% showed interest saying they would when it was available. This represents 50% of the same respondents to the iPad sales last year, basically equating to a few million in sales.
Most were happy with the 7inch form factor of the PlayBook, the BlackBerry name, speed and power as well as impressive specs within. The PlayBook should be launching in Mid-March with prices between $399 – $499, with 3G, 4G ad Wi-Fi versions all available. Hey, Samsung Galaxy Tab did pretty good using the 7inch form factor too!
